Living Life as a Disciple of Christ

Welcome to our website dedicated to spreading the message of God's love and making disciples. Our mission is centred around living life as a disciple of Christ - constantly growing in our faith, loving and serving others well, and impacting the world around us for His glory.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to not only believe in Him, but also to follow in His footsteps and make disciples of all nations. This is the Great Commission that He has entrusted to us as His ambassadors on earth.

Through this website, we hope to inspire and encourage you in your journey of discipleship by providing biblical teachings, testimonies, resources, and prayer support.

What is Discipleship?

Discipleship is not just a one-time event, but a continuous journey of growth and transformation in Christ. It is a lifestyle that involves following Jesus, learning from Him, and spreading His love to others, even to those who are difficult to love. We see this exemplified by Jesus Himself as He spent time with His disciples, teaching them, equipping them, and sending them out to make more disciples.

The Heart of Discipleship

At the heart of discipleship is the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. It teaches us that salvation comes solely through Christ alone and His sacrifice on the cross. As we embrace this truth and grow in our understanding and experience of His love and grace, we are compelled to share it with others. Our lives become a living testimony and reflection of His transformative power.

Furthermore, discipleship involves not just teaching others about Jesus, but also demonstrating His love through acts of service, compassion, and kindness towards others. As Jesus said in John 13:35, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

The Role of the Holy Spirit

As we strive to make disciples and live out our faith as a lifestyle, we must rely on the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised to send us the Helper, who will teach and remind us of all that He has taught us (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit also equips us with spiritual gifts to serve and edify the body of Christ.

As we surrender ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can effectively fulfill our role as disciples and bring glory to God.

The Call to Discipleship

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gives us the Great Commission - to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This is not just a suggestion or an afterthought, but a command from our Lord and Saviour.

Furthermore, in Luke 9:23, Jesus says, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." This call to discipleship requires sacrifice, self-denial, and a willingness to follow Jesus wherever He leads us.

Living Life as a Disciple

As we strive to live life as disciples of Christ, there are certain principles that we should keep in mind:

  • Intentionality: Being intentional about our faith and discipleship, making time to grow in our relationship with God and intentionally seeking opportunities to share His love with others. "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil." - Ephesians 5:15-16

  • Accountability: Surrounding ourselves with other believers who can hold us accountable in our walk with Christ. This includes being open to correction and guidance from fellow Christians, as well as being willing to speak truth into each other's lives. "Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.  Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load." - Galatian 6:1-5

  • Spiritual Growth: Discipleship is a journey towards spiritual growth, continuously seeking to become more like Jesus every day. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." - 2 Peter 3:18

  • Holiness and Righteousness: As disciples of Christ, we are called to live holy and righteous lives, being set apart for Him and reflecting His character to the world. "But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” - 1 Peter 1:15-16

  • Community: We cannot make disciples on our own. It takes a community of believers to support, encourage, and hold each other accountable in our faith journey. "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." - Hebrews 10:24-25

Embracing the Call

As we embrace the call to discipleship, let us remember that it is not a burden, but a privilege to be chosen by God to fulfill His mission here on earth. It is an opportunity to experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from living out our purpose in Him.

Let us also remember that we are not alone on this journey. As a community of believers, we can lean on and support one another as we strive to make disciples and impact the world for Christ.

Thank you for being a part of this community and may God continue to guide and bless you abundantly as we live life as disciples of Christ. So, let us go forth with boldness and courage, sharing His love and making disciples wherever we go. Together, let us fulfill the Great Commission and bring glory to His name.

Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated on this mission journey.

Prayer:

Dear gracious God, thank you for choosing us to be your disciples and for giving us the privilege of fulfilling your mission here on earth. Help us to always remember that it is not a burden, but a great honour to be called by You. Guide us in our journey as we seek to make disciples and impact the world You have put us in for Christ. May we live with intentionality, growing in our faith and striving for holiness, surrounded by a community of believers who can hold us accountable and encourage us. May Your love and grace continue to transform us into the image of your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.
